Before the price: decide the accuracy class
Almost every costly mistake on an Elmeasure enquiry is an accuracy class decided after the price instead of before it.
Accuracy class is the permitted error of the meter under defined conditions. Class 1.0 allows up to one percent error on active energy across its range. Class 0.5S is tighter, and the S matters: it denotes a special class holding accuracy over a wider current range, including at the low-load end where an ordinary class drifts. A feeder running at a tenth of CT rating most of the month is where a non-S meter loses accuracy and an S-class meter keeps it. Specify by consequence, not habit:
- Class 1.0 — operational monitoring and load trending, where the number informs a decision but does not settle a payment.
- Class 0.5S — tenant billing, internal cost allocation, DG versus grid reconciliation, audits that will be challenged, anything tied to a performance guarantee.
- Tighter than 0.5S — bulk supply and check metering.
One rule gets ignored: the meter’s class is capped by the CT’s class. A 0.5S meter behind a protection-class CT gives you the CT’s accuracy. If you are paying for 0.5S, buy a matching metering-class CT and do not let it be value-engineered out.
What’s inside the Elmeasure list
Elmeasure (India) Private Limited manufactures in Bengaluru. Its range spans measurement, monitoring, switching and the software layer above.
| Category | Real Elmeasure families / models | Typical formats |

| Transducer-type meters | Omega series | Signal output rather than display led |
| Basic, panel & DIN rail meters | Ammeters, voltmeters, frequency and PF meters; DIN rail energy meters; EN8400 series | Panel cut-out per model; 35 mm rail |

Selecting and programming CT and PT — where the readings go wrong
CT ratio is a programmed value and must match the CT actually fitted. If a 300/5 CT feeds a meter programmed as 400/5, every current, power, demand and energy reading is proportionally wrong and still looks credible. Read the ratio off the CT nameplate on site, not the drawing, and record it — the commonest cause of disputed sub-meter bills.
Size the CT to the running load, not the breaker. A CT chosen for breaker rating on a feeder running at a fraction of it parks the meter at the bottom of its range — where class matters most, and where an oversized CT wastes the S-class meter you paid for. Check burden in VA against meter plus lead resistance on long runs, and use split-core CTs where the conductor cannot be broken, as in retrofit sub-metering.
PT ratio applies on HT and wherever voltage exceeds the meter’s direct input. Program primary and secondary exactly as fitted, and confirm whether the model expects line or phase values — the wrong reference is a factor-of-1.732 error, and hard to spot on a busy screen.
Getting Elmeasure meters into an EMS
Most Elmeasure meters go in because someone wants the data elsewhere, so design the communication path with the panel, not after it.
Meters with RS485 speak Modbus RTU. Daisy chain the loop, never star it; shielded twisted pair, shield earthed at one end only; A and B polarity identical at every device; a unique slave address per meter; baud rate, parity and stop bits identical across the segment; terminate both ends of a long run. Keep segment length and device count within the RS485 limit. Where the head end wants Ethernet, an Elmeasure network gateway bridges Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP, so the panel keeps its serial bus and the server sees IP.
Then the register map, which is model-specific. Confirm it for the exact model and firmware before writing the polling configuration — assuming a map carries across a family is the classic first-day failure, showing up as plausible values scaled wrongly.
This is the layer our own Switchology energy management system sits on: Modbus RTU meters on the panel bus, RS485 into IoT gateways, consumption per feeder, tenant or machine without anyone walking the plant with a notebook. If the metering is meant to end up on a dashboard, say so at enquiry stage — addressing, segment count and polling interval are worth ten minutes at drawing stage and two days at site.
How to read the Elmeasure list
The printed figure is a list price; your net follows from the trade discount applicable to that product group, and groups are not uniform — meters, CTs, switching products and software are commonly treated differently. GST is added on the invoice at the notified HSN rate.
Three checks. Read the full order code — communication, CT input rating, auxiliary supply and mounting are suffixes, so a model with RS485 is a different line from the same model without it. Confirm the CT is a separate line item: a CT-operated meter does not include the CT, and metering-class CTs are what gets dropped to hit a number. And check for superseded codes, since a revision is where withdrawn models and replacements appear.
Why Elmeasure revises its price list
The bill of materials is mostly imported electronics. Microcontrollers, measurement ICs, displays and passives are dollar-priced, so forex and component allocation move cost directly, and an IC going end-of-life forces a redesign rather than a repricing. CTs consume copper and silicon steel; switching products copper, silver contacts and steel; stabilisers and transformers copper or aluminium winding material. Enclosures follow plastic feedstock, with freight and working capital on top. Standards move too — IS and IEC metering revisions can change a test, a class boundary or a construction, and a re-engineered model returns on a different cost base. Platform generations roll forward and older codes are withdrawn with alternates printed against them, which is why an old PDF risks quoting a model that cannot be supplied, not just a stale number.
Buying Elmeasure in Bengaluru and Karnataka, with pan-India dispatch
Skylights Energy has traded in the Bengaluru electrical market since 2013 and supplies Elmeasure meters, CTs, gateways and switching products through VendorStocks, our B2B and B2C platform of around 3,000 SKUs. With Elmeasure manufacturing here and us in Bommanahalli, the loop on a standard meter or CT is short.
Send the metering schedule, not only a model list. We will say where Class 0.5S is genuinely required and where Class 1.0 is honest engineering, which CT class and ratio each point needs, and how the RS485 segments split — then quote against that. We are at No. 15, 1st Cross, 3rd Main, Begur Cross Road, Bommanahalli, Bangalore 560068, convenient for the Hosur Road, Bommasandra, Peenya and Electronic City belt, with pan-India surface and air dispatch elsewhere. We supply panel builders, wiring shops, OEMs, MEP consultants and purchase teams at plants, colleges and engineering firms, and our panel arm Stellar Panels builds LT and HT panels. We make no authorised-dealer claim for Elmeasure.
How often this page is updated
We compare this PDF against Elmeasure’s published edition periodically and replace it on revision, with the effective date in the file name and heading. Superseded editions come down so nobody quotes a withdrawn model. Have a newer one? Send it to support@skylightsenergy.in.
